JFK to LA…

Do you know what it feels like to silently cry inside a mask?

To have your mask collect and soak up all of the tears that fall uncontrollably like a tissue strapped to your face.

To attempt to dry your eyes, but feel like it’s just a leaking faucet that won’t turn off.

Every tear just confirming the heartbreak.

Do you know what it feels like to cry inside a mask?

To feel like you’re struggling to breathe, but you gasp for air hoping that with each breath the tears would fade. They just keep falling down your face, collecting, as if this face protectant was a damn built to hold your pain.

Do you know what it feels like to cry inside a mask for five and a half hours?

From JFK to LA…I cry. My mask soaking up these tears that stick to my face like a wet towel to a bathroom floor.

Do you know what it feels like? Do you?

Heartbreak through COVID.
